You've Got To Be Kidding!

They paid $700,000 for it, and moved in. Now they're being kicked out. The new residents of the "peace house" in Chevron can't catch a break. Why is the government so intent on silencing every ounce of true patriotism this country has? Why does it appear that to be a law abiding citizen one must be self-hating Israeli, or at least apathetic? Why are the Jewish humanitarian groups so bent on destroying this country?

This sounds like the preview of a bad movie, unfortionately it's a never-ending story one can't turn off.

"The legal basis for Defense Minister Amir Peretz's decision to evacuate the home in Hebron also comes from a 1980 cabinet decision, when then-prime minister Menachem Begin's government decided that the cabinet was the only body authorized to approve the expansion of the Jewish community of Hebron."

If that's the case than the Supreme Court should never have authorized the deal to begin with. This whole thing is a disgusting show for Peretz to pretend he's sticking to some Labor agenda.

Wait a minute...Peretz aside, are you claiming that the only way to exhibit "true patriotism" in this country is to take the prevailing dati leumi (right wing) stance? What about the many, many Israelis (yes, including some datiim here and there) who, on security, humanitarian, or other grounds take issue with the expansionist approach to the shtachim? Are they simply stupid, misguided, or unpatriotic?
